Am I Eligible for Weekend Car Insurance?
Anyone with a full UK drivers licence is eligible for weekend car insurance, although individual insurers may have their own restrictions and requirements such as a minimum driver's age or minimum time holding a full licence.
What Kind of Cover Can I Get With Weekend Car Insurance?
You will be able to find third party or fully comprehensive weekend car insurance. If you intend on travelling abroad while covered by weekend car insurance, make sure that your policy includes cover for driving abroad. While it is possible to get this cover under your weekend insurance policy it is not normally included as standard, so be careful to include your requirement for overseas insurance on your application.
Bear in mind that while your weekend insurance certificate will comply with the Road Traffic Act's requirement for proof of insurance, you will still need to make sure that the car's tax is up to date.
How Soon Will My Weekend Car Insurance Activate?
Many insurance companies can arrange your cover in advance, or if you need your weekend car insurance at short-notice, your cover can start as soon as you have completed the necessary documentation. Many insurance companies allow you to complete your application online and pay by debit or credit cars and will even email you the proof of your coverage, so that the whole process is as convenient as possible. Other insurance providers allow you to print the necessary proof of insurance from their website.
